Yebo… un grand merci à tout l’équipe de ROSEQ à Rimouski la semaine passée. On a reçu un prix pour une vitrine à RIDEAU en février, 2012. Woohoo!

Big thanks to the folks at ROSEQ in Rimouski last week. We won a prize that gives us an official showcase at RIDEQU in Québec City in February, 2012.

We’re off on Wednesday to Winnipeg for a string of 3 shows out West. See the dates and info to your left!

We’ll also be playing the ATAA showcase in Edmonton on Friday, Oct 21rst, then our show there later that night.

Puis, le 25 octobre, on part pour l’Europe de nouveau. Toutes les dates sont à votre gauche.

Then off to Europe again for a tour. Excited to say the least. We’ll be posting more pictures, shot blogs, and maybe the odd tour video.

Arcade Fire rocked le quartier de spectacles last night! What a homecoming show. Sadly missed the Karkwa and Kid Koala shows…home duties

On part bientôt pour les cantons de l’est. On joue demain soir à North Hatley, à La Caravane. Les dates for Europe s’en viennent aussi. We’ll be posting them shortly.

Ces temps-ci, on est train de composer les nouvelles tounes grace à une bourse qu’on a reçu from the Québec Council of the Arts. MERCI MERCI! Pour la première fois dans ma vie, on a le temps pour composer et on est payé. Amazing. What a gift our grant system is. We need to keep it strong and healthy.

Even for those of us not enrolled in any classes, there is undeniably a palpable feeling of returning to a busier, more responsible life – or at least – the END OF SUMMER.

Yes, it does sound horrible, doesn’t it?

So as a coping strategy, we’re going to live in the past for a little bit longer, and linger over our very fond memories of our last two end-of-summer tour dates….

FME – a new favourite for us. What a great audience and warm welcome! What an exceptionally well-organized and friendly team of festival employees! We would drive twice as far to do it again next year.

But next time someone better tell us about Patrick Watson’s SECRET SHOW.

And of course, a place we visit at least once a day in spirit. Les Iles de la Madeleine at AU VIEUX TREUIL.

But really the only way to describe our feelings about that enchanting archipelago is with this image:

Les amis, Friends – our amazing and creative drummer Patrick Dugas will be leaving our band to begin his career in acupuncture. Ce n’est pas facile pour nous, mais nous lui souhaitons tout le meilleur pour la suite. Evidemment, il va continuer à jouer avec nous de temps en temps.

We are having a show at Quai Des Brumes on Thursday, July 27th to rock the night out with Pat in the way that we started at L’Inspecteur Epingle back in the Fall of 2007. This will be a special show for us. We’ll be playing a long long set, and our dear friends from Switzerland, Les petits chanteurs à la gueule de bois, will be opening the evening that night.

Holidays and habits

Allo Allo, après tous les festivals pendant les dernières semaines, plus récemment notre première partie pour M Ward et Dawes à L’Imperial à Québec pour le Festival D’été, on va prendre une petite pause avant qu’on commence les shows et les tournées en automne.

C’est pas mal Montréal en été…les terrasses, les terrasses, et les terrasses.

 

Nos amis de la Suisse, Les petits chanteurs à la gueule de bois, arrivent ce weekend pour une tournée au Québec qui va durer trois semaines.

On va jouer avec eux au Quai de Brumes à Montréal jeudi le 27 juillet.

Aussi, c’est triste à dire, mais ce soir-là sera notre dernière show avec Patrick Dugas officielle parce qu’il retourne aux études en septembre. On va faire un show comme on a fait à l’époque de notre résidence à L’Inspecteur Epingle. Manquez-le pas!

Hello friends,

Our run of festivals (Montreal Jazz Fest, FestiVoix Trois-Rivières, Montreal Folk Fest and most recently the Festival d’été de Québec) are now behind us, and we have now embarked on a well-deserved little holiday before hitting the road again. Families, friends – prepare your guest-rooms, we’re coming to visit!

Although Montreal is also an excellent place to have time off…

New summer tradition: breakfast-picnic on the mountain, followed by some book reading, people watching and a little snooze, and then a long leisurely winding bike ride down to a favourite micro-brewery terrasse for an afternoon beer.

What bliss.

But it is not quite all rest and relaxation. In a very short while, we welcome to Montreal our dear friends from Switzerland Les petits chanteurs à la gueule de bois - a guaranteed good time for all personality types and astrological birth signs.

We couldn’t help ourselves, so we’re going to be taking time off from our vacations to do a little show with them on July 27th at Quai des Brumes. You guys should come – it’s just a few blocks over on St-Denis. We’ll see you there!

Then after all that, we’ll fill you in on what coming up… signing off now before we spill the beans…

Merci à tout le monde qui est venu aux shows au Savoy. C’était vraiment un plaisir pour nous de jouer dans cette belle salle intime. Allez voir The Unsettlers ce soir à minuit et demain pour un show festif et gratuit.

Thanks to everybody who came to the Jazz fest shows at the Savoy. Didn’t get to meet Prince, but heard he played til 4 am. Stamina.

Coming up: Sorel, Québec City, Trois-Rivières……..
