Hello friends, I’ve been home a week now. It’s always sad when another album cycle comes to an end (There will be a few solo or duo shows scattered here and there). This one for RUSSIAN DOLLS was by far the most adventurous yet. We got to see places like Corsica, the inside of a tour bus all around France, a fantastic living room in Brussels, Le Saguenay in Québec, and Bruno, Saskatchewan in -40˚ sunshine to name a few. I feel so damn lucky to be able to share / have shared the road with these folks: Kristina Koropecki, Emmanuel Serrus, Pete Pételle, Hugo Chaput, and Stéphan Petrocca. It was also the most ambitious cycle I’ve ever had with a move to Europe, a Masters program, and juggling the wishes of my loving family. Thanks to all of you who invited us into your homes or your ears. We would be literally nothing without you. I’m using “I” here, but I know when I say “Thank you”, it comes from all five of us. We’ll see you soon. Honest. Much amor ::: (Taken in L’Anse St Jean, QC – July, 2015)
Well we’re feeling pretty honoured that Les Inrocks in France have put Russian Dolls on their list of top albums for 2014 ! Among about another 100 albums or so…. Honoured nonetheless. And it’s one of those public vote contest things again. So if you feel like voting for a total underdog (us), we will gratefully accept your underdoggish support:). Regardless, end of year lists are always great to discover albums I hadn’t heard about yet. Have a gander. Enjoy. From yours truly :::
We ended the first leg of the tour with a bang and are proud to announce that we’re the winners of the Prix du Jury of the 2014 Les Inouïs de Printemps de Bourges!
Also, our song “Carnival” from Russian Dolls was chosen as the “morceau du jour” in the French culture publication Les inRockuptibles. Thanks for the shout out!
Germany – we’re coming your way soon….
Today is our official launch in France! Thank you to Two Gentlemen, and Harmonia Mundi for making it happen. It’s was a treat to celebrate in the city of lights!
Voilà the obligatory Eiffel Tower pick. It is one gosh darn pretty tower though.
Sigh. J'<3 la France!
Tomorrow we’re back at work, opening at L’Ubu in Rennes for Lisa Leblanc!
