Western Canada Music Award Nomination!

What the River Gave the Boat has been Nominated for a WCMA in the Outstanding Roots Solo Category. Exciting! A big thank you to Matthew Rogers who helped me produce the album. He is the man that can bridge the formal music worlds with the Roots world amazingly. Also a big Thank You to all the players who played on the album.

I`m currently riding a bike I bought for $95 around the peninsula of Gaspe. My butt cheeks are sore, but les paysages sont tellement beau. And we`re having free showers every 30 minutes.....m!

Yebito...Thanks to all the people who came out to the shows last weekend. Waterloo, Toronto (Drake Hotel) and Ottawa (Mercury) Lounge. I think it was one of the most diverse short tours crowd-wise we've ever done. Bought good coffee at Ideal in Kensington Market...the best. Read the globe and mail at Maggie's breakfast place on College. All our favourite things to do. And of course the Market in Ottawa on Saturday nights is always an eye-full....all the government workers letting all the corporate/government anxiety out into displays of skin and hedonism.

The website will be updated soon with new pics, new tracks from What the Boat Gave the River...etc. I'm a bit of a lemur when it comes to computers. Sad but true.

An August tour is starting to come together. Some of the dates are posted on myspace

I haven't been very studious lately with the updates. It's been busy, but now What the Boat Gave the River is done. It feels honestly great. Almost like a long marriage/divorce kind of relationship. Was great, but definitely now feel good that this idea that's lasted about 3 years is completed and done. Now we can start moving on to new material, of course after we tour this album for the next 2 years :):):):):):)

The Release Date for Canada is September 16th, 2008. It will be released by the Redux/KBM label here in Montreal, and Ken Beattie of Killbeat Music will be handling all the publicity for English Canada. Like to thank these two for what should hopefully be a fun ride.

I've just updated the myspace page (www.myspace.com/markberubemusic) with pictures of The Patriotic Few and uploaded a bunch of songs from What the River Gave the Boat, before I upload the new one shortly.

There will be a free download as well on this site and the myspace page soon.

Upcoming shows:

This Thursday, July 3rd - solo show 8pm at Pages Bookstore, Montreal (Close to Metro Lionel-Groulx)

Other shows around Ontario and Quebec in July and August. Check out the myspace page for shows.

A tout bientot.....M
